WITH THE HELP OF A NEW organization called the Safe Cat Foundation, Chris Leidy and her grandchildren were recently reunited with their beloved cat, Jake.
Safe Cat President Elise Stewart posted a video on YouTube of a very playful, orange-and-white cat at the Dublin shelter. The cat made a sniffling noise and was need of foster care. The description and video of the cat matched the description of a lost cat in a classified ad in the San Ramon Valley Times.
Roz Rogoff, a volunteer for Safe Cat, phoned the number in the ad and the rest is history. Leidy told Rogoff that the cat belonged to her grandchildren, who live in San Ramon, about a mile from the Dublin border. She said the cat has allergies, which cause him to make a sniffling noise.
The missing Jake is very friendly and likes to follow people. So it is easy to see how he might have wandered down to Dublin and been taken to the shelter there.

Tristan was a small gray kitten brought into Martinez Animal shelter as a stray. Due to an unknown cause it was discovered that Tristan had suffered from 3 broken legs. The kitten although injured was sweet and gentle had been scheduled for euthanasia due to his injuries. The shelter staff decided to call Safe Cat Foundation for help. Marla Rogozin, Safe Cat Foundation’s President, answered the call and drove Tristan to Bishop Ranch Veterinary Hospital and Urgent Care in San Ramon.
Tristan received excellent care by the staff and veterinarians at BRVC where extensive efforts were made to save his legs. Fortunately 2 legs were able to be pinned and are on their way to mending but one leg after numerous surgeries and...

Around San Ramon: Jinx is unlucky no more
THANKS TO THE generosity of some local residents who gave their time, talent and compassion, Jinx, a 2-year-old siamese cat, is recuperating and recovering nicely from massive life-threatening injuries he sustained a few weeks ago.
Jinx was found on the side of Isabel Avenue in Livermore. He was alive but in a lot of pain, with two broken legs and other severe injuries.
The cat had no identification on it, but volunteers from the Safe Cat Foundation in San Ramon rescued him from being euthanized and took Jinx to the Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center in San Ramon. Doctors Leanne Taylor and Frank Utchen and other staff members volunteered their services and performed seven hours of surgery to save Jinx’s life. Jinx not only survived, but both his legs were saved with the use of rods, plates, wires and hardware in his bones.

Jasper is a wonderful, friendly, gentle boy who was owner surrendered to the shelter. He is 10 yrs. old. He has recently been diagnosed with diabetes, and is on medication. He may not need meds forever, but he is on a special diet that is agreeing with him very well.
His blood levels are returning to what they should be, and it is fortunate that Safe Cat Foundation was there to get him prompt treatment for his medical needs. He is easy to care for, just loves to be around people (loves being held - a real lap cat). He is looking for a forever home.
